The Value of Museums in Our Lives: A Humbling Experience

Visiting the Denver Science and Nature Museum was an amazing experience for me and Chris. We were both excited to explore the different exhibits and learn new things about science and nature. However, what made our visit even more special was an encounter we had with a young boy and his mother in the Ocean exhibit.

As we walked through the exhibit, we stumbled upon a projection of lapping waves on the floor. The young boy was jumping and laughing as he tried to catch the waves with his hands. His mother was standing beside him, watching him with a smile on her face. I overheard her saying, "It's almost like it's the real thing!".

Chris looked at me and said, "Sometimes I forget that there are people who have never had a chance to experience the real thing." The entire situation made me pause for a moment and reflect on my own life experiences. I've been fortunate enough to have been able to travel so many places, and to have seen so many amazing things, including the ocean. But not everyone has had that opportunity or has the means to travel and experience new things.

It was a reminder that we should appreciate the simple things in life and never take them for granted. Seeing the joy on that little boy's face as he experienced the waves was a reminder of how important it is to appreciate and enjoy the simple pleasures that life has to offer.

As we continued through the exhibit, I felt a newfound appreciation for the museum and the opportunity it provides for people to learn and experience new things. It's not just a place to see interesting exhibits, but a place that can provide experiences and knowledge to those who may not have the chance to see certain things in person.

While we didn't get to see the entire museum, as it is quite large, our visit to the Denver Science and Nature Museum was not just a fun day out, but it was a humbling experience that reminded us of the importance of appreciating the little things in life. It made me grateful for the opportunities I've had and the experiences I've been able to enjoy, while also reminding me of the importance of making these experiences accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or financial situation.

Providing free museum entry days is crucial for ensuring that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, has access to the educational and cultural resources that museums offer. By removing the cost barrier, museums can become more inclusive and offer opportunities for all to learn and explore.
